The climate does something real to how the lifestyle works here. KwaZulu-Natal is subtropical and warm through most of the year, so the seasonal drop-off that other provinces feel in winter is much shallower. Members stay active in June and July in a way that inland provinces do not.
Umhlanga and Ballito carry a disproportionate share of the province's members relative to their size — both are affluent, both are holiday destinations, and both draw people from Gauteng over December and Easter. Durban itself remains the anchor, with Westville, Pinetown and Hillcrest feeding into it.
The beachfront promenades, Umhlanga's restaurant strip and the Ballito centre are the usual suggestions for a relaxed first meeting. Inland members from Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands often meet in Hillcrest or Westville as a natural halfway point.
